Privacy Policy
Plain English, because that's how I work. This page explains what personal information I collect through this site and my marketing, what I do with it, and the one thing I never do with it.
Last updated: July 9, 2026
Who I am
I'm Trevor Tardif, a licensed REALTOR® with REAL Broker AB Ltd in Edmonton, Alberta. I operate this website and the marketing connected to it as a sole proprietor. For anything privacy-related, contact me directly: [email protected] or 587-842-2525.
What I collect
Email sign-ups. If you subscribe to my Edmonton market update (or download a guide), I collect your email address and basic context about where you signed up — which page, and whether you indicated you're a buyer, seller, or investor — so what I send you is actually relevant. Subscriptions use double opt-in: nothing is sent until you confirm.
Subscriber ad audiences. When I'm running ads, I may use subscriber email addresses — in hashed (one-way scrambled) form — so advertising platforms (such as Meta, Google, or TikTok) can show my ads to people already on my list, and stop showing them "join my list" ads they don't need. The platform compares the hashed address against its own existing accounts, uses it only to build my audience, and is contractually barred from keeping it or using it for anything else. Nobody gains the ability to contact you; the only thing that can happen is that you see an ad from me on a platform you already use. Your address is never sold, rented, or given to anyone for their own marketing. Unsubscribing from my emails also drops you from these ad audiences the next time they sync, and you can ask me to exclude you from them entirely at any time. Phone numbers are never used this way — see the text-messaging section below.
Contact and lead forms. If you fill out one of my forms — on this site or in an ad on a platform like Facebook or Instagram — I collect what you provide: typically your name, email, phone number, and your answers to the form's questions (for example, a budget or down-payment range). I use those answers to respond usefully instead of generically.
Direct communication. If you call, text, or email me, I keep a record of the conversation the way any business keeps its correspondence.
Advertising measurement (Meta pixel). As of July 2026, this site uses Meta's advertising pixel and its server-side companion (the "Conversions API"). It exists for two reasons: to tell me whether my ads actually work, and to let me show relevant ads on Facebook and Instagram to people who have visited this site. What it collects: which pages you visit here and when, your IP address and browser information, and — through Meta's cookies (_fbp, _fbc) — an identifier that can connect your visit to your Meta account or to the ad you clicked, if you have one. What it never collects: your name, email address, phone number, or anything you type into my forms. (Subscriber emails can reach ad platforms only through the hashed matching described under "Subscriber ad audiences" above — never through the pixel, and phone numbers never at all.) Meta's handling of what it receives is governed by Meta's own privacy policy.
Opting out of the pixel. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, the pixel doesn't load at all — I honour it. Content blockers that block Meta's tracking also work; the site functions identically without the pixel. You can additionally manage how Meta uses this kind of data in your Facebook or Instagram ad settings.
Beyond that, this site is deliberately light: no other analytics or advertising trackers. If I add one, I'll update this section first and say plainly what was added and what it collects. My hosting provider keeps routine technical logs (like any web host) to keep the site running and secure.
How I use it
To respond to your inquiry, send you the information you asked for, schedule appointments, provide real estate services, and — if you opted in — send you market updates and relevant content. That's the list.
Text messaging
If you provide your phone number and agree to be contacted, I (or my business systems) may text you about your inquiry. Some messages may be sent with the help of automated tools, with my oversight. Message frequency varies with the conversation; message and data rates may apply depending on your carrier plan.
Opting out is instant: reply STOP to any text and messages from me stop. You can also opt out any time by emailing or calling me.
Your mobile number and your text-messaging consent are never sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes. No exceptions.
What I never do
I do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and I do not share it with anyone for their own marketing. Your information exists so I can help you with real estate — not to become someone else's product.
Service providers
Like any modern business, I use software to operate: an email platform to deliver newsletters, a customer relationship manager to keep track of conversations, a business phone service for calls and texts, scheduling tools, and website hosting. These providers process data on my behalf, under their service agreements, to deliver those services to me — they are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes. If you reached one of my forms through an advertising platform (such as Meta), that platform's own privacy policy governs what it collects on its side; this policy governs what you submit to me.
Consent and unsubscribing
Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link that works immediately. Every text conversation honours STOP. You can withdraw consent for any channel at any time by contacting me — no hoops. This is how I read Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), and it's also just how I'd want to be treated.
How long I keep it
As long as needed to serve you and to meet the record-keeping obligations that come with being a licensed real estate professional in Alberta (brokerage and regulatory requirements). If you ask me to delete your information and no legal obligation requires keeping it, I will.
Your rights
Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act), you can ask me what personal information I hold about you, ask for corrections, or ask questions about how it's handled. Email [email protected] and I'll respond directly.
Changes to this policy
If I change how I handle personal information, this page changes first, with a new "last updated" date at the top.
